An IGBT driver is an electronic device specifically designed to drive and control the operation of IGBTs; it serves as the key interface between the control circuit and the power switching devices.
The driver must provide a +15V forward gate voltage to ensure full IGBT conduction and reduce conduction losses, while simultaneously applying a reverse gate voltage of -5V to -15V to enhance turn-off reliability and resist high-frequency switching noise interference. It integrates three core modules: gate drive, monitoring, and protection.
They are widely used in industrial frequency converters, electric vehicle traction inverters, photovoltaic inverters, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and rail transit, among other fields.
